“Colorlessness surpasses all colors; the pure beauty of the world captured in black and white.”

He is a master in the design field, an artist, and also a collector. His creations are unconventional, connecting tradition with the contemporary through photography and continuing the tradition of painting. This native Shanghai resident – Shen Haopeng – under the interweaving of diverse artistic identities, what is most captivating is the black-and-white world captured by his camera.

Dynamic Light and Shadow
He loves light and shadow. In his photographs, light and shadow are dynamic. He captures them on the walls, in the mist of the glass windows, and on the tiles of the floor, freely moving, with light and dark interweaving, turning ordinary corners into mysterious and interesting places.

The Rhythm of the Wind
The interweaving of black and white gives the “wind” a unique form in his lens. The plastic covering the door presents different postures of the wind, such as being full and struggling to break free. The wind seems to be fully stretching itself, tirelessly pursuing freedom and breakthrough. Through the hazy curtain blown by the wind, the plants look like they have a completely different “flavor”.

Refined Black and White
Under his black and white filter, the colorful chaos disappears, leaving only pure lines and textures. Blooming, withering, drifting – all are telling the story of life.

He uses the camera to capture the fleeting moments of light, form and life, allowing us to experience the overlooked beauty in our daily lives through his perspective. In the seemingly monotonous black-and-white images, he explores a rich and captivating artistic world.
