「One object per period」Shinya Tanoue: Shape the Breath of the Ocean with Clay
The waves of the sea carried the cracking sound of shells, becoming the heartbeat of the clay in his fingertips. He simply incorporated the entire ocean into the clay and sealed it in the ceramic kiln. When the salty sea breeze collided with the intense heat of the kiln fire, what kind of ocean spirit would be produced?
Shinya Tanoue draws inspiration from the ocean and uses shell ceramics to create an inspiration theater that bridges nature and art. In terms of form, he dissects the original contours of marine creatures, such as the curves of snails and slugs, the arcs of shells, and applies abstract natural contour processing while retaining the lively essence of the creatures. The colors, using shades of blue, create an atmosphere of the ocean, with the gray and white stone base rough like a weathered reef, and even the crevices contain the breathing of the sea, capturing the ecological texture of the ocean.
He uses ceramics as his language, integrating his profound observations of the ocean’s mystery and his insights into the dynamic tension of life into the shapes and colors of the pieces. Each work is an artistic translation of nature, allowing viewers to feel the vitality of the ocean and witness a silent resonance of souls between the ocean and art in the flames.
