「Look at the Picture and Talk about the Painting」Beauty comes from the mind, and is also carried by things
Beauty is an indispensable nutrient in life, representing the interaction and transformation between “the mind” and”objects”.
Beauty does not lie in the inherent attributes of “objects”, nor does it stem from the random imagination of the “the mind”. Here, “objects” refer to all the objectively existing things, such as mountains, rivers, plants, cups, vessels, their shapes and textures, providing the foundation for beauty; while the “the mind” refers to the subjective perception, emotions and cognition of human beings, endowing “objects” with unique meanings and forming a subjective entity with a distinct image. Conversely, the form and texture of “objects” will in turn nourish the perception of “the mind”, giving the originally vague emotions a concrete focus.
For example, when we think a flower is beautiful: the surface is the charming colors and relaxed form that “objects” possess; the deeper meaning is the “inheritance of life and the circulation of all things” that “the mind” gives it; and the specific form of the flower gives the abstract generalization of “inheritance of life” a visible carrier, making the emotions no longer empty.
The interplay and integration of “the mind” and “objects” make beauty tangible and alive. Without this integration, the soul will fall into desolation. Actively exploring this aesthetic experience is the core that fills life. It gives ordinary daily life warmth and nourishes the spiritual world. Only by perceiving and settling in this beauty can life break free from poverty and move towards abundance, and the essence of life’s abundance is the continuous exploration of the beauty of the symbiotic relationship between “the mind” and “the object”.
